It's tough to convey what the real heart of a company is. Knowing the core spirit of your clinical trial materials supplier is critical to being able to have a great partner you can absolutely trust.

With that said, I want to give you a window into how we feel about what we do every day. Most of the clinical materials that we supply have variable numbers that are used to identify patients. Our job is to print those numbers on the label matching exactly what the customer has sent us with zero defects. Our labels have to be extremely legible with no broken text and smear-proof so there is no chance that a label can be misinterpreted. We do an excellent job with this critical work, but it is how we feel about it which makes all the difference.

"We see every number that goes by as a patient, a person."

You see, we see every number that goes by as a patient, a person. When those labels are going through the manufacturing and inspection process, it's easy to see only labels and numbers. But, if you have a different perspective on what those numbers mean, it makes the work you do more important. Seeing every number as a patient emphasizes to us how we have to make sure every label is right. You do a better job when your heart is in it. This is the very definition of being "patient-centric" because it is all about the patient.

We know that each person enrolled in the study has some kind of hope for a cure or relief from something. In the most extreme cases, it might be the only hope they have to live a few years or months longer. We talk about this perspective frequently so that everybody knows what the objective is, and why it is so important. It's part of our culture. We feel a higher calling to get this right for every patient that is involved with our labeling. This is why ZERO DEFECT labeling is critical. We understand that any issues with the labeling can be catastrophic to your clinical trial. Our robust quality system is designed to make the highest quality labels.

This means that we take great pride and care in making the label construction correct… printing it as legibly as possible… printing the codes so they exactly match the file we received… inspecting out any print defects ... making sure that the labels are easy to open... and delivering them to the clinical packaging department in the most logical sequence so they can efficiently apply them as fast as possible.

Having our priorities in the right place not only makes for a better product but it also makes our jobs more enjoyable and worthwhile at BCL because we know we are helping people.
